Jade CDs are widely heard on national and fine music stations throughout Australia, and are recognised as a valuable resource by educational authorities as being uniquely representative of the work of Australian composers. "SYDNEY HARBOUR BLUES" JADCD 1077 Works by: Eric Gross, Dulcie Holland, Ray Lemond, Robert Allworth, Colin Brumby. Duration: 46’28". The title track is one of two short piano pieces by Gross written for young players using jazz idiom, the other being "Jazzeroo". This CD exclusively features the artistry of gifted pianist Ray Lemond who has recorded previously for Jade. Ray’s individual style of composition delights in four works including "Six Astronomical Pieces For Young Stars", more repertoire for student performers. Teachers please take note! Gross also contributes a "Moonscape". Holland’s elegant "Sonatina" was commissioned by pianist Sally Epstein who performed it in New York following its Canberra premiere. Also enjoy Holland’s delicacy of touch in "A Scattering of leaves". Allworth’s distinctive use of serial technique is heard in "Reminiscences Of Times Past".
